On July 20–21, the Oil Crops Research Institute (OCRI) of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) hosted the Seminar on the Belt and Road Initiative & China–South Korea Oilseed Science and Technology Cooperation in Wuhan. A six-member delegation led by Dr. Jung Minwoong, Chief Representative of the Beijing Liaison Office of the Rural Development Administration (RDA) Republic of Korea, attended the seminar. Prof. Deng Qianchun, Deputy Director General of OCRI, participated in the event.

During the seminar, researchers from both sides presented the latest progress in their work on the genetics and breeding of sesame, rapeseed, and peanut. They also exchanged views on the experiences and challenges in oil crop breeding and held in-depth discussions on priority areas and practical approaches for future cooperation.

During the visit, the Korean delegation toured the OCRI’s laboratories, the Pilot-scale Oil Processing Workshop of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Yangluo Experimental Station.

Dr. Jung Minwoong noted that the seminar had further strengthened communication and collaboration between the two sides in oilseed science and technology. He expressed the hope that both sides would continue to advance cooperation through the establishment of collaborative platforms, reciprocal exchanges of researchers, and joint research projects, thereby providing strong scientific and technological support for agricultural and rural development in both countries.
