The Canadian delegation visited OCRI to discuss China-Canada cooperation project Date:2016/04/12 Hits:On 22 March, 2016, Dr. Denis Petitclerc, the Director General of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada-Science and Technology Branch, led a delegation to visit Oil Crops Research Institute (OCRI) of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Xuekun Zhang, Deputy Director of OCRI and other experts participated in the meeting.
The Canadian delegation visited the field facilities and rapeseed trials, the laboratory of quality standards and food safety research, the laboratory of functional genomics and watched the institute video. Both sides discussed the way to strengthen the collaboration in Brassica genome sequencing and research, and will promote cooperation in the field of rapeseed genome mining and utilization, mechanized production technology and processing and testing technology. The two sides will construct the joint-lab of China-Canada rapeseed biology and molecular breeding and implement the related project under the governmental agreement and framework on scientific and technological cooperation.
Canada is the world's rapeseed production, processing and export country, and also kept advanced level of rapeseed research. OCRI has established a strategic cooperative relationship with the Institute of Plant Biotechnology (PBI) of Canadian National Academy of Sciences in the field of gene cloning and genetic improvement of rapeseed. |
